Ladies & Gentlemen I present to you the latest round of rubbish from the mail. My comments will be in bold – the rest is the online Mail article copied and pasted directly from their site.

VIP child sex charity loses its NHS funds over concerns that controversial therapy they use may cause ‘false memories’

The Lantern Project charity has been stripped of financial support (ONLY BY THE NHS

Two alleged victims claim to have suffered abuse at the hands of VIPs There’s actually a great many more of us than that. Last time I looked there were 700 and odd allegations. Not all from Darren and I.

But police have been unable to corroborate any of their allegations
That’s why they have already arrested one person, interviewed 2 under caution and are presently working their way through a large number of witnesses.

Concerns have since been raised over Lantern Project’s methods
A charity which has helped two key witnesses in the VIP child sex abuse investigation has lost NHS funding amid concerns over its use of a controversial therapy which can generate false memories. False memory syndrome is in itself a controversial and not proven theory

The Lantern Project was stripped of financial support after fears were raised over its governance, counselling techniques and use of unqualified staff.
tell the highly qualified staff that that have all worked in the field for many years
The move raises further questions about the judgment of Labour deputy leader Tom Watson, who championed two alleged victims of VIP abuse helped by the charity. Sorry but it’s nowt to do with Tom. I’ve met the guy once at an election campaign meeting along with about 50 other people. Darren I don’t think has ever met him

And it is another blow to Operation Midland, the beleaguered Scotland Yard probe into alleged abuse and murder by a gang of senior Establishment figures.
a) is it even called Midland anymore? didn’t it get added to due to the other allegations? B) I’ve never spoken to op Midland. They’re nothing to do with my case

Questions raised: Labour deputy leader Tom Watson, championed two alleged victims of abuse who had been helped by the charity The Lantern Project as above
The two alleged victims helped by the Lantern Project, Esther Baker and a man known only as Darren, claim to have suffered and witnessed abuse at the hands of VIPs.
allege would be a better word I think – although kudos to the writer for using a more emotive word that suggest incredulity
But police have been unable to corroborate any of their sensational allegations.
of course not. That’s why they’re arresting people – would it have killed the Mail to google it or ask Staffs for a press statement?

Doubts about the pair intensified in October, when concerns emerged about a technique used by the Lantern Project called unstructured therapeutic disclosure (UTD), in which the victims are given the details of the effects of sex abuse suffered by their counsellor. Nah. Doubts about the pair intensified when the Sunday Times printed a story which even they have admitted to IPSO was inaccurate to say the least. My counsellor has never been abused so I’m not sure how that works

^^ Ironic link ^^

It has described its approach as ‘reverse disclosure’ – in which ‘the victims do not need to tell us what happened to them as we already know, because it happened to us’.

The project based in Wallasey on Merseyside has also referred to victims having ‘memories they have tried for many years to bury deep in their sub-conscious’.
don’t remember seeing that – but could be wrong
But a number of experts say it is reminiscent of a previously discredited technique called ‘recovered memory therapy’, which played a part in false abuse cases such as the Cleveland child abuse scandal in 1987 and the Orkney satanic ritual case in 1991.
ah yes. Barristerblog – et al. Those experts (with what qualifications exactly? Talking about a false memory syndrome that doesn’t feature in any reputable mental health directories – bumped up by two examples in which – you guessed it – false memory was proved to not be a feature at all. Google Mail reporters. Google is your friend. Duh.

Esther Baker claimed to have suffered and witnessed abuse at the hands of VIPs jeez wept. They said something true – although my point about allege vs claims still stands
Last night the NHS Wirral Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) confirmed it had ceased funding the Lantern Project, which it has given £185,000 since 2013.
again I may be wrong but I believe they have been giving funds and sending clients to the Lantern for 4 years. They only seem to have had a problem this year. And especially after my allegations about government members, they lose government funding. Doesn’t take a genius …

It said: ‘Wirral CCG has previously commissioned The Lantern Project to provide counselling and psychotherapy to victims of sexual assault, sexual abuse and domestic violence. oh look. There ya go. They were happy enough to send hundred of clients to them in the last.

‘Recently, however, yes. Recently – by trolls, stalkers and a couple of perverts the CCG has been made aware of, and continues to have concerns regarding, the governance of the service, the therapeutic model used and the use of unqualified staff.

‘Unfortunately, following the review, and as the CCG were not assured in these areas, a decision has been made to cease funding the service.’
I’ll leave that one to the Lantern to correct – which they will
Miss Baker, 32, who has received UTD therapy from the Lantern Project, claimed in January to have been abused in a church setting but did not mention politicians.
Yeah. Hi. I haven’t relieved UTD from the Lantern or anywhere else. When I made my allegations I was in counselling with RASA – and please forgive me for not sharing every detail of my sordid past to some bloke & girl from C4 who I’d never met before & didn’t know who they might be associated with, who after all were there to speak about the National Inquiry not the specifics of my abuse. I have given over 100 hours of evidence to the police. The C4 story was approx 8 minutes

In May, after widespread publicity about VIP sex abuse, she waived her right to anonymity and claimed that when she was aged from six to 11 she had been repeatedly raped by a former MP and others in a forest at Cannock Chase, Staffordshire, as police stood guard.

I’m starting to really dislike the word “claim”

Miss Baker, who has had close dealings with the disgraced ‘investigative’ news website Exaro, also alleged she was trafficked to a flat in Dolphin Square in Westminster for sex parties which included a former cabinet minister. Mr Watson then called for a full investigation into her case. Hey. When did poor Exaro become disgraced. It’s you who should be disgraced for writing this piece riddled with rubbish. Next question. I’ll give a chocolate bar to anyone who says they’ve seen me say that I was at Dolphin Square. See the difference is Exaro research their own articles – they don’t just copy & paste inaccurate articles from other papers

The former MP about who she made the claims was questioned ( not questioned. Interviewed under caution) for three hours by police in October. He vehemently denies her allegations and says he has serious concerns about the Lantern Project’s techniques. ah an anonymous bloke accused of rape and CSA says he didn’t do it – and of course he has serious concerns. The fact remains though that I made the allegations before the Lantern project

Darren claimed he had been abused on an estate in Suffolk, had witnessed the murder of a man and had been trafficked to Dolphin Square. He named a former cabinet minister as a child rapist and said he knew of a girl who had died during one sex party.

In September Suffolk police concluded there was no substance to Darren’s claims.

That month, it emerged he had been previously sentenced to two years in jail for making hoax bomb calls, nuisance and threatening calls about neighbours and criminal damage, had falsely confessed to the murder of a prostitute in the midst of a high profile police manhunt, and a judge had once accused of him of telling “some pretty whopping lies” at the conclusion of a court case.

According to reports in October, Darren has not had UTD therapy, but the Lantern Project has been supporting him in some of his dealings with police.

I cannot and will not make any comments on Darren and his allegations.
The charity is run by Graham Wilmer, an anti-abuse campaigner who set it up 12 years ago. He said at his home on Merseyside: ‘We cannot make a statement at this time as there is a live police investigation relating to this matter.
right there mate xx
‘We are in total dispute with the CCG statement because it is simply not right and we are discussing it with our lawyers.’

we’ll get there

  1. Jules says:

I’m a trainee counsellor. First thoughts. I checked to see if the Lantern project were members of British Association of Psychotherapy and Counselling, BACP, an ethical body where counsellors and counselling organisations are required to work within an ethical framework….it has an accreditation standard. The Lantern Project are indeed a member. Supervision is also required to make sure counselling is undertaken within their guidelines and to ensure the clients are receiving the correct care. There is no way a member of BACP would do anything to import false memories or cause any harm to a client. Secondly, counsellors are highly trained and skilled individuals and it sounds like the Mail and others are making blind assumptions about the role of counselling and the techniques involved. I smell BS here on a grand scale.

  2. A truly superb take down of The Daily Fail, Esther, I couldn’t agree more with you.

What I especially love, is how you are using your excellent voice to support others, even sacrificing for them – this makes you a true CSA pioneer. ❤

Dear PM, how would you explain The Lantern Project's BACP accreditation, if they were employing unqualified staff? What a preposterous agenda you have!
